Goodbye 2018 - Hello 2019

Happy New Year!
We've had a busy end-of-the-year and beginning of 2019 in the Sadler household.

November ..... We finally found a work truck for Bill.  A 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500.  It's much bigger than the old truck and JUST fits in the garage!

December...... I spend nearly every weekend wrapping Christmas Gift! It was A LOT of work!

These are light up marquees that I made into nameplates for teachers/colleagues:

The next SIX pictures are all the gifts wrapped and in a spare room at my brother and sister-in-law's house!  Every single gift is from our family!

This is a video of the wrapped gifts:

Each year Ryan gets an ornament (or two) that represent an accomplishment or interest from the previous year.  I LOVE how this ornament turned out.  I created a graphic showing a "scan coordinator"!  If you look closely you see all the Jewel tags, scan gun, cart, and signs!

This is the back of the ornament

The second ornament was made through Shutterfly and is a wooden box.  There is a picture from a backstage visit with his favorite band - along with their logo, the venue (House of Blues) and tour dates......he LOVED it!

Here's a collage of all the ornaments Ryan has received throughout the years:

I saw these cute "paintbrush" ornaments on Pinterest.....I had to make them!

I made this ornament for my nephew.

This was our gatefold, Christmas Card.
The right is the front - center is what was shown when the gatefold opened and the back was the plain red barn wood.
Our Christmas tree this year.....

Our Family Picture

I've always loved this wreath from Hobby Lobby - I finally decided to get it for the boy's bathroom

It matches perfectly!
I added these Hobby Lobby Treasures to my bathroom!

We rang in the New Year by going to see the Wizard of Oz play at the Paramount in Aurora!
IT WAS FABULOUS!  We ALL enjoyed it!

We had a choice of sitting front row off center or front row in the balcony - We chose the balcony and the seats were PERFECT!

The Paramount is a beautiful place to see a play - it was extra special with all the holiday decorations!

We decided it was time to change up Ryan's bedroom!  He had a loft bed with a desk and was getting too old for that setup!  So after several trips to IKEA - We had a plan! and a lot of building to do!
After work on a Friday - We started right away - pulling down border - sanding the sponged on stars - and painting several coats of paint on the walls and ceiling!

I dusted off the sewing machine and got to work!  First was the double layered valance:

I built all the box shelves and cabinets the night before so they would be ready to hang the following day!  The boxes on the white walls were a little "too white" so I added some scrapbook paper on the backs and a strip of scrapbook paper around the edge (see the bottom left corner)  I attached the strips to frame each box.....

I purchased and decorated this basket to hold pajamas and college books that don't travel to class.

Purchased a plain white lamp with a pretty shade - again a little too white- so I added trim around the shade with a rosette and a small strip on base.

I sewed a cover for the bench cushion and pillows for the bench seat.  The center of the bench has items I thought made it look messy - so I made a square cover from denim scrapbook paper and foam board!  I love how it turned out.....I didn't have a pattern and "winged it"!

The denim bedspread was the reason I choose to use the denim in the valance.

The hanger on the closet door holds the many chargers and electronics he has.  The two boxes on the floor were leftover after deciding to only put one on the side of the window.

The floor lamp in the corner is also from IKEA.  It doesn't give off much light and was quite expensive but it adds something to the room!

Ryan had a loft bed with a desk underneath - so it was quite large - he's getting used to the smaller desk and likes the storage cabinets above the desk!  With the white cabinets - I added the blue striping on the bottom - Again, it's just scrapbook paper!
The bed!  The best thing EVER!  It is on hydraulic lifts and the ENTIRE underneath is STORAGE!  I purchased the zippered boxes and all his collector items are stored neatly underneath the bed and OUT OF SIGHT!!!

BEST. INVENTION. EVER!

Here's a little video of the completed room!

Here's to a happy HEALTHY 2019!
