Summer Happenings!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that Bill and I celebrated our anniversary on June 4th!

  TWENTY YEARS

He knows me so well! He gave me a bunch of gift cards and cash so I can enjoy shopping this summer!

Ryan and I went to the zoo with my friend and her kids!  It was a beautiful day, until I received a phone call from my mom saying that my dad needed to go into the hopsital immediately.
He had a test done and the doctor called saying he needed to go to the hospital
because his heart rate was more than double what it should be!  So we
loaded up the car and headed back home to wait to see what
the plan was going to be.

A "simple" procedure of shocking his heart to try to get it back into sinus rhythm, took a turn for the worse, as he had difficulty waking from sedation - which was a sign that his heart was weaker than they had anticipated.  He was taken to CCU and ended up needing to stay for 4 days.

This is all he wanted - TO GO HOME!
A week later, my brother was working and attacked by a Pit Bull.  He needed 16 stitches!  Thankfully he was wearing a glove - because this could have been a lot worse without a glove on!

Here's a picture of my parent's backyard.  My dad asked me to take some pictures while all the flowers are in bloom!

Ryan leaves for vacation with my brother, David this weekend!  Hoping they get good weather!

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!

Last Friday (May 28th) was the last day of school! This will be the first time I have the entire summer off! 2 months, 3 weeks, and 4 days to be exact! Looking forward to every single minute!

Believe it or not, Ryan has begun Driver's Ed. He has his permit and started the BEHIND THE WHEEL portion of the course this week. YIKES!!! Next week he will begin football camp. On Monday and Wednesday I will be driving back and fourth to his high school SIX times a day between football camp and driver's ed classroom and driver's ed behind the wheel!

We've already been enjoying the warm weather in the swimming pools. We joined Centennial Beach this year, and hope to spend many days soaking up the sun!

Memorial Day weekend we took a trip to Brookfield Zoo with my mom and nephew, Jacob. It was a hot day, so many of the animals were inside. We had free passes, so we can't complain!

Today is our wedding anniversary. We met on June 4th 1983 at a concert (Molly Hatchet, Scandal and Jonathan Brandmeier) and 10 years to that date (June 4th, 1993) we got married . So with the 17 years we've been married and the 10 years we dated - we've actually been together for a whopping 27 years! WOW! We will celebrate at Hugo's Frog Bar for dinner! It's our favorite restuarant!

Hope to post more often now that I have tons of free time!!!!

SPRING BREAK!!

Spring Break has FINALLY arrived! 9 whole days off in a row! We don't have too much planned except for some spring cleaning, dentist appointment and some follow up blood work. When we return to school there will be less than two months to go. This school year has flown.

We had a field trip to the zoo two days prior to Spring Break - it wasn't much fun! The weather was freezing and many of the animals are not on exhibit. The most popular animals (elephants, dolphins and bears are at other zoos while they finish construction on their new habitats. The classroom teacher became ill a few hours prior to leaving which left me in charge of the adventure. ( I did get some awesome animal pictures!)

Bill has been working pretty steady lately - keeping our fingers crossed that it continues. I will be teaching an technology enrichment class in April for the PTA and continue teaching the extended day program until mid April. Although the certified staff has received their notifications if they have been released for the following school year, the classified staff still waits for official word on what will happen to our positions due to the budget cuts our school district faces for the upcoming year. (Trying not to think about it!!!! - I'm going into my tenth year with the district and hope I will be asked to return!)
We have been receiving information for the Driver's Ed program that Ryan will be taking during the summer. We should know more in May! STAY OFF THE ROAD! We've also been receiving all the information regarding the football summer camp. Looks like he will be busy most of the summer.
I continue to monitor my glucose readings and am happy to report I have always been in target range........most often I've been falling in the normal range. Bill and I continue to walk EVERYDAY at least a mile and a half. Bill has lost 30 lbs and me 17....... we are looking forward to walking more during the summer months! I'm hoping that my April blood work will show that all our efforts have made a significant impact!
Bye for now!
