Summer Projects!

Where has the past month gone???  The summer months go way too fast and there is only 5 more weeks until school starts up again - BOO!

We've been doing some more projects around the house.

The shed needed some new paint and......

we needed a new roof.  The roof was a brownish color and we decided to change it to a dual black.

We are happy with how it turned out!

and now the shed roof matches the house! 

I've started making Christmas gifts and one of the projects is a reusable grocery tote.  I made this design for several of the teachers. They can use it to tote things to and from school!

 Ryan hasn't had his picture taken in a while - so I convinced him to let me take some pictures at Naper Settlement.  These are a few of my favorites.

The biggest and most time consumer project I have been working on this summer is scanning

 in all my NON DIGITAL photos.  Which is pretty much everything before 2004.  What. a. chore!  It's been fun reminiscing and seeing all the fun things we've done over the past years.  Last count was just under 10,000 pictures - NO JOKE! (This is a project I've been wanting to do for the past couple summers and would get overwhelmed just thinking about it!  So I really feel I've accomplished something that needed to be done!

I've been scanning pictures/baby books/toddler book/certificates for weeks!  I'm almost done and hope to make a few projects before returning to school!

Sadly, Summer's Over

Yes, Sadly another summer is behind us! Where did the past 2 1/2 months go???  Yesterday Ryan started his Junior year in High School and I returned to Kindergarten after five years.  The first few weeks of kindergarten is similiar to child birth - you forget just how bad it really is!

Before returning back to school, we had to repaint our entire exterior.  The paint was peeling on one side of the house; so there was a ton of scrapping to be done.  We also decided to change the color from blue to gray, the trim was changed from ivory to white.  You can see the lower 1/2 of the house is the new gray color - you can also see all the scrapping involved due to the peeling paint!

While in Kohl's one weekend, I stumbled upon some clearanced jewlery!  All these necklaces were marked at least 80% off!  I ended up buying some birthday presents too!

Ryan spent the summer working and in football camp.  He also had a couple field trips through the Multi-cultural Leadership Academy!  On off weeks from football camp, we were able to enjoy sleeping in late and NOT BEING ON A SCHEDULE! Which, by the way, makes it more difficult to return to school FOR BOTH OF US!

From this picture Ryan looks a little on the small side!  He will be dressing for the Varsity games, but most likely will be playing in the Jr. Varsity Games on Saturday mornings

I'm sure I'll be posting more often......one would think that with 2 1/2 months off work, I would have had the time to post then........but the time seems to go way too fast!
